Susan Shockey, Ph.D., CFCS is a Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Educator with The Ohio State University. She is responsible for teaching personal finance, management skills, human relations, and food and nutrition.

/24-7PressRelease/ - Columbus, OH, July 31, 2008, Susan S. Shockey, Associate Professor of Family and Consumer Sciences at The Ohio State University, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of education.

An Associate Professor, Susan Shockey, Ph.D., CFCS is a Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Educator with The Ohio State University. She is responsible for teaching personal finance, management skills, human relations, and food and nutrition in Franklin County including Columbus, Ohio. Her focus as an Extension Educator and High School Home Economics teacher has been teaching personal financial independence. Her area of specialty is Cash Flow Money Management. She is the Columbus Saves "Build Wealth, Not Debt" Board Chair. Through her interactive teaching style, she uses critical thinking skills to encourage participants to become empowered to change their behaviors.

Her dissertation research focused on a national study about Individual Development Accounts and financial education for low-wealth adults. The Trans-theoretical Model of Behavior Change assessed the change among participants enrolled in financial education programs. Her research is published in the Journal of Financial Counseling and Planning, June 2004.

In the future, she plans to assist families nationwide by offering on-going Leadership Programs for Family and Consumer Sciences professionals engaging them to learn more about their personal leadership skills and involving them in public policy issues. Dr. Shockey plans to share her work by publishing articles and writing a book for consumers covering personal finance and critical thinking processes. She believes that planning and methodology are equally as important as documenting program outcomes.

Dr. Shockey holds a Ph.D. from the College of Human Ecology, The Ohio State University. She earned a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from The Ohio State University. She is affiliated with the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, the Ohio Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, and Phi Upsilon Omicron, and Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society.
