/24-7PressRelease/ - Miami, FL, August 2, 2008, Leon Banister Jr., Special Education Teacher for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of special education.

With more than five years of professional experience, Mr. Banister specializes in teaching and counseling emotionally disturbed children and is responsible for consulting with counselors on behavior intervention plans. He considers being honored with the Special Education Teacher of the Year Award from Miami Chapter 121 of the Council for Exceptional Children in 2007 to be the highlight of his career, and he attributes his success to his determination and education.

Currently pursuing his Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling at Barry University, Mr. Banister received his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from the College of New Jersey in 2001. He serves as the vice president of Chi Sigma Iota and is a member of the Florida School Counselor Association, the Florida Education Association, the American Counseling Association and the National Education Association. He is a recipient of the Outstanding Service to the Chapter Award and the Outstanding Pledge Award in 2008. Mr. Banister hopes to attain a position as a guidance counselor and become involved in clinical psychology in the future.
