SANTA TERESA, NM, October 25, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ona Fern, Artist and Owner of Outta My Gourd, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of folk art.

Ms. Fern has 30 years of experience in the arts, 13 of which have been as the owner of Outta My Gourd. In her current role, she creates one-of-a-kind handmade gourd crafts and canvas paintings. Additionally, she organizes exhibitions and offers art demonstrations for clubs and organizations. A retired teacher, Ms. Fern takes pride in having instilled an appreciation of art in her students. First place winner at the Kermezaar art show, she credits her success to her creativity and love of art.

A certified reading specialist and elementary school teacher, Ms. Fern received her Bachelor's Degree in Speech Pathology and Education from the University of Arizona in 1961. She earned her certification in English as a second language and is affiliated with the American Gourd Society.
