MONTEREY, CA, December 30, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mary Lawson, Registered Nurse and Cardiovascular Educator at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of nursing.

Ms. Lawson has 10 years of professional experience in cardiac surgery nursing. She is responsible for precepting young nurses, conducting meetings and setting up standards required for open-heart cardiac relations. In addition, she developed the cardiac surgery program in the ICU/CCU, which was started on February 13, 2007 and which she considers to be her greatest professional accomplishment. Prior to joining Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, she worked as a RN and Cardiac Coordinator for eight years, during which time she learned all aspects of cardiac nursing while working directly with the surgeon. In 2008, Ms. Lawson was nominated for the Excellence in Nursing Award at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and considers the encouragement she received from her mentors to be the driving forces behind her success.

A graduate of the University of Phoenix, Ms. Lawson received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2003. She is a member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and volunteers for various charitable organizations. Her goals for the future include obtaining her master's degree and branching into the field of transplants.
