WEYMOUTH, MA, December 30, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dorothy T. Fresolo, RN and lead nurse for the Personal Care Attendant (PCA) Program at The Arc of the South Shore, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of nursing.
With 46 years of professional nursing experience, Ms. Fresolo specializes now at age 70 in evaluating the physical care needs for disabled individuals of all ages. Prior to entering Children's Hospital School of Nursing in 1959, she spent a few years as an aspiring nun and a nurse's aide at Children's Hospital where she worked during the last major polio epidemic and then with the children with then incurable cancer conditions. These experiences inspired her to enter the school of nursing and dedicate herself to "providing care for sick children." This became her life's goal in 1962 and continues at the present time - most of the consumers she sees now are children.
Some of her years in hospital nursing were spent at Children's Hospital Boston as a Head Nurse, at Beth Israel as a Charge Nurse, and at Newton-Wellesley Hospital as a Staff Nurse. She entered community nursing in 1990 and found much satisfaction in providing direct home care from 1990 to 1999, and served at Mass Health for three years. She also taught and supervised care at the old Peter Bent Brigham Hospital.
Since 2002, she has happily used her skills and understanding in fostering the PCA program for Massachusetts consumers in need of physical assistance to remain safely at home.
A lifelong Cantabrigian, Ms. Fresolo attributes her success to inspiring people in her life and faith-filled passionate convictions.
