Actress and Chronic Pain Survivor Launches Pain Management Book and Website

Cecilia Collar announces new eBook and website for sufferers of Tension Myoneural Syndrome.

I want to give support to people who are going through the same thing I did. I did not have the support I wanted, but I know I am now in a position to help other people deal with chronic pain.

CHICAGO, IL, September 17, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Chicago-based actress and director Cecilia Collar is announcing the release of her new website and book on pain management for individuals with Tension Myoneural Syndrome (TMS). The Kindle eBook "The Path To No Pain" and accompanying website, mindbodydissonance.com, were released on September 15th. Limited edition printings of the eBook will also be published this fall.

As a chronic pain survivor, Ms. Collar has developed these resources to share her personal experience and research on alternative treatment methods for TMS sufferers. Tension Myositis Syndrome, also known as Mind-Body Syndrome, is a relatively unknown disorder first recognized and described by Columbia University professor of rehabilitative medicine Dr. John Sarno.

As Ms. Collar states in her book, "While the pain pathway might have once been thought of as a one-way street, these days researchers are thinking about things a little differently... we now know that the brain itself can also stimulate the pain nerves and cause various types of pain sensations in almost any part of the body."

Common TMS symptoms may include back, neck, shoulder, and upper arm pain, muscle stiffness, tingling or burning sensations, cramps, and intermittent numbness. Since diagnosis can be difficult, Dr. Sarno emphasizes the importance of eliminating other possible conditions with healthcare providers familiar with TMS.

Due to the somewhat controversial nature of TMS diagnosis and treatment, relatively few resources currently exist on the topic. According to Ms. Collar, the lack of publicly-available information for sufferers of this condition inspired her to author her book and create her website:

"I want to give support to people who are going through the same thing I did. I did not have the support I wanted, but I know I am now in a position to help other people deal with chronic pain."

"The Path To No Pain" is now available for purchase on Amazon. More information on TMS and Ms. Collar's resources can be found at mindbodydissonance.com. Ms. Collar's personal website and professional portfolio can be found at ceciliacollar.com.
