Arlie Hall Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Hall has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the field of science education

LEXINGTON, KY, October 12, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Dr. Arlie Hall a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Dr. Hall celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Hall has served in a number of engineering management positions throughout his career. After 25 years of service at the International Business Machines Corporation (IBM), Dr. Hall retired from active professional pursuits as an engineer. He held the position of program manager for quality engineering education at IBM's Corporate Technical Education Organization in New York. He began teaching lean principles and practices in 1986, a topic he has instructed for the past 23 years. In 1994, he served as an assistant professor of manufacturing systems engineering in the Engineering Department of the University of Kentucky, a position he held for 17 years. At the university, he designed and developed a highly successful comprehensive "lean manufacturing" curriculum that has been taught in Europe, Russia, Australia, and other countries around the world.

Dr. Hall recalls a high school physics project on refraction as the spark that ignited his interest in science, leading him to pursue a career in the field. As one of seven children, his parents were unable to support his college education. Through his passion and dedication to higher learning, Mr. Hall supported himself by working at the foundry. He began his studies at the University of Kentucky, receiving a Bachelor of Science in 1967.

Dr. Hall is dedicated to academia, and has continued his career in education and leadership. After retiring from IBM in his 50s, he went back to school, earning a doctorate from Vanderbilt University in educational theory and human resource development. His research area is in accelerated technical learning in industrial settings, and his focus is on short segment inquiry learning. He has published numerous texts in his field, including his recent book, "Introduction to Sustainable Quality Systems Design: Integrated Approach from the Viewpoints of Dynamic Scientific Inquiry Learning and Toyota's Lean Principles and Practices." He has also published work on the Toyota Production System and he has developed skills assessment instruments for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. He also holds a patent in high vacuum insulating cell technology.

Dr. Hall serves his community through his charitable involvements with his church and through his volunteer work at the Gideon Association. He has been featured in the 66th to 70th editions of Who's Who in America as well as the 12th edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Hall has been featured on the Marquis Who's Who Lifetime Achievers website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
