As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. A retired vice principal for Newark Public Schools in Newark, NJ, Ms. Wilson spent 17 years teaching in the school system and another 18 years as a project coordinator for the Newark Board of Education before moving into administration. Retiring in 1997, she then began teaching music at St. Paul's Roman Catholic School in Irvington, NJ. Initially hired as an eighth grade mathematics and science teacher as a favor to the principal because they were short one teacher, and also because her grandchildren were attending the school at the time, she eventually moved into the role of music teacher when the spot became available. She remained at St. Paul's for another five years.

As church organist and choir director for Zion Hill Baptist Church in Newark since 1974, she was the recipient of a Living Legend Award. She was awarded the Outstanding Church Musician Award by the Order of the Eastern Star in 1986. Ms. Wilson also won a Community Service Award from the Essex County Civic Association. She is a certified elementary education teacher and principal/supervisor in the state of New Jersey. She holds a Bachelor's degree from Newark State College, as well as a Master's degree from Kean College.

During her tenure in education, Ms. Wilson was active as a member of the Project Coordinators Association where she served many years on the executive board of the Newark chapter, the Newark Teachers Union, and the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, where she was the public relations director for two years. Highlighted in Who's Who in America every year from 2008 to 2016, and in several editions of Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women, Ms. Wilson is the proud mother of two children.
