LOS ANGELES, CA, March 08, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Bharat Narottam Nathwani, MD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Nathwani celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Nearing his 50th year in the field of pathology, Dr. Nathwani has spent 45 of those years specializing in lymphoma pathology. A current professor of pathology and director of pathology consultation services at City of Hope Medical Center in Los Angeles, he formerly spent 25 years as a full professor of pathology and as chief of hematopathology at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, also in Los Angeles. Coming from a long line of doctors, including Dr. Nathwani's brothers and sisters-in-law, his two nephews, niece and her spouse, he was initially trained by his father, also a doctor, in the field of lymphoma pathology for 10 years. Blessed to have also been affiliated with many senior, highly experienced lymphoma pathologists since that time, who have mentored and trained him, he has worked on close to 85,000 lymphoma cases to date.

Dr. Nathwani first completed a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at Grant Medical College in Bombay, India, in 1969, and MD in pathology in 1972. He then completed residency training in pathology at the college before immigrating to the United States for further training. Studying under Dr. Henry Rappaport at the City of Hope Medical Center for an entire decade, where he is currently affiliated, his career has come full circle.

Throughout his journey in medicine, Dr. Nathwani has served as a principal investigator for a number of projects, obtained grant funding in excess of $1.8 million for research through the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute, has authored approximately 170 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, and has conducted nearly 300 lectures, seminars, courses and workshops in lymphoid diseases both in the United States and worldwide. A longtime member of the International Academy of Pathology, the American Society of Clinical Pathology and the American Society of Hematology, Dr. Nathwani also served on the committee of the World Health Organization classification on the topic of "Pathology and genetics, tumors of the hematopoietic and lymphoid tissue."

Named to America's Top Doctors and The Best Doctors in America for his incredible accomplishments in medicine, Dr. Nathwani has also received numerous other accolades, including a Distinguished Service Award from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and a Most Distinguished Physician Award from the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin. A four-time recipient of an Award for Recognition of Excellence in Teaching Residents and Fellows in the department of pathology at the University of California, who also recently received an Inaugural Clinical Teaching Award from the City of Hope Medical Center just last year in 2017, he has been featured in approximately 40 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who in the World.

Entering his field because his father was a physician, when Dr. Nathwani was young, he fought for the independence of India. A great freedom fighter, he was arrested for his peaceful protest and sentenced to prison for two years. Setting an example for the rest of his family and the world, he continues to look up to his uncle, who was an attorney and judge at the time.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Bharat Narottam Nathwani, MD, has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
