Mr. Dawson began his career by obtaining a BA in Government from Claremont McKenna College in 1989, interning with U.S. Representative Ron Wyden in 1987, and interning for U.K. Member of Parliament Gordon Brown in 1988. He went on to earn an MA with the University of Chicago in 1993, and a JD from the University of California at Berkeley in 1996, where he was on the Board of Editors of the California Law Review. He is licensed to practice law in both Oregon and California, as well as by the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Courts for the Districts of California and Oregon.
As an expert in his field, Mr. Dawson is a member of numerous professional organizations.
