With more than four and a half decades of practiced industry experience, Dr. Henny is uniquely qualified to oversee a wide range of tasks on behalf of the U.S. Geological Survey, where he has worked as a research biologist since 1993. Before obtaining his first role in the field, he earned a Bachelor of Science in fisheries and wildlife, a Master of Science in wildlife management, and a Ph.D. in wildlife ecology from Oregon State University. After graduating, he started with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Laurel, Md., where he served as a research biologist for four years. For the following two years, he worked in the same role for the same organization, but at their branch in Denver, Colo. Just prior to transferring the U.S. Geological Survey, he maintained the role of research biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's branch in Corvallis, Ore.
In addition to his many years as a research biologist, Dr. Henny also worked as a courtesy professor at his alma mater from 1977 until 2010, an associate editor of the Journal of Raptor Research from 1991 until 2002, and an editorial board member of the Bulletin of Environmental Contamination Toxicology, where he served from 2003 until 2013. A shining example of skill in his field, he affiliates himself with the American Ornithologists Union, the Northwestern Field Naturalists, the Northwestern Scientific Association, the Wilson Ornithological Society and the British Ornithologists Union, as well as many others. Throughout his career, he has had the honor of being named to publications such as Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.
