Upon completion of his MD at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in 1976, internship and residency in internal medicine at the Jewish General Hospital of McGill University, and fellowship in allergy and clinical immunology at Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Golden went into private practice in 1984.

While working toward the completion of his fellowship training program in allergy-clinical immunology at Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Golden began directing a program of research studies on anaphylaxis and insect sting allergy, a program that lasted for 30 years. Throughout his career, he has also published many research papers and has been a guest lecturer at national and international scientific meetings. Currently serving as the chief of the allergy division of internal medicine at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore and as director of allergy in the department of medicine at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Dr. Golden is also an associate professor of medicine and a teaching clinician at the Johns Hopkins Asthma and Allergy Center in Baltimore.
Dr. Golden is an elected fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Allergy Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) and the American College of Allergy Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI), and a member of the American Medical Association, He develops educational programs for the AAAAI and ACAAI, and offers allergy-immunology curriculum for medical residents in teaching community hospitals. He also is a member of the Joint Task Force on Practice Parameters of the AAAAI and ACAAI. Gr. Golden has been the recipient of research grants for his work and Dr. Golden has been the recipient of research grants for his work and has been named to Top Doctors in Baltimore in the "Baltimore Magazine" nearly every year. The magazine published a feature article on him in 2005. He also published a paper in "The New England Journal of Medicine."
