PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, February 15, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David Mann, Director of Manmar Global Merchandising Group, Inc., has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in brand building, especially in the U.S. footwear market.

In Feb. 2013, David Mann partnered with Arturo Marquina to form Manmar Global Merchandising Group. Arturo has spent the last 35 years making and sourcing shoes in Mexico for companies like United Colors of Benetton and Piccadilly. David and Arturo have several American brands that they are sourcing product for as we speak. They are also exclusive USA distributors for 2 top Mexican factories called Karosso and Vandana. Karosso makes sneakers for several top international firms such as Nike. They are launching a Karosso Kasual brand at the Platform show in Vegas on Feb. 19th-21st. The other factory, Vandana, makes handsewn sandals and boots for men and women. They also will be at the Platform show in Feb.

Before launching Manmar Global Merchandising Group, David was Vice President of Sales at Topline Corp. from December 2009 to July 2011. Before that, he served as General Manager of Pastry for Vida Brands from February 2007 to September 2009. In this role, he launched Pastry footwear and toured with Vanessa and Angela Simmons to 8 cities in a year to launch the brand on an episode of MTV's Run's House.

From 2000 to 2007, David was the General Manager of Phat Farm and Baby Phat for Vida Brands. During this time, he launched PF Phat Classics (and watched more than 8 million pairs of shoes fly off the shelves in a 5-year period), Baby Phat Athletic Shoes and realized the sale of three initial sneakers selling over 1 million a pair each over a 2-year period.

For approximately a year-and-a-half in the late 90s/early 2000s, David was a Territory Rep for Skechers. Before that, from 1988 to 1998, he served as the Owner & President of Elite Sports and ran an agency for Fila Footwear that covered six New England states. Under his leadership, sales grew from $237,000 in 1988 to 13.7 million in 1995. From mid-1986 to March of 1988, David was a Territory Rep for Bisio and Associates. He got his start in the sporting goods industry as a Territory Rep for JBM Associates. David's professional peers describe him as a "great business partner," "a motivated manager" and someone who has "the ability to adapt to an ever-changing business environment."

Outside of work, David is an inspirational speaker to city kids at the Althea Gibson Tennis Center and several community colleges. He was presented with the Liberty Bell Award by former Philadelphia Mayor John E. Street in 2008 for donating 3,000 pairs of Phat Farm, Run Athletics and Pastry shoes to the Mayor's Office for the city-wide Health & Fitness Program. At the time, Philadelphia had the unwanted monikor of "Fattest City in America" and David and Phat Farm President Russell Simmons wanted to support and encourage underpriviledged children to exercise. David also sponsored another 2,000 pairs of shoes to both the Philadelphia Police Department and the Althea Gibson Tennis Center.

A lifetime member of the Two Ten Foundation and a lifetime supporter of the Althea Gibson Tennis Center, David earned a bachelor of arts in marketing from Baruch College in 1980.
