Dr. Alissa Brotman O'Neill Celebrated by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Vascular Surgery

Dr. Brotman O'Neill has been named one of the Top 10 Vascular Surgeons in New Jersey

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ, October 12, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Alissa Brotman O'Neill has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Alissa Brotman O'Neill is a magna cum laude graduate from Harvard University who received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from UMDNJ/SOM where she also performed her residency in general surgery. She performed her fellowship in Vascular Surgery at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine-Englewood Division. Dr. Brotman O'Neill has additional accreditation in ultrasound vascular imaging and is board certified in vascular surgery and vascular ultrasonagraphy. She has been appointed as Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Rowan University-SOM. She is recognized as a leader in the field of venous disease, including expert treatment of varicose veins. She is accomplished in endovascular technology, including aortic aneurysms and peripheral arterial disease. Dr. Brotman O'Neill was present for first venous Clarivein procedure in the United States and was the first to perform this technique in Mercer County. She is published in her field and has given lectures at the state and national level. Dr. Brotman O'Neill has been recognized as a Top Doc in NJ Magazine. She is married with two children and enjoys running. She was a member of the varsity cross country team while at Harvard.

Dr. Brotman O'Neill has always had a passion for medicine. She dreamed of one day helping patients. "The most gratifying experience is truly saving someone's life. There is no feeling like it. There are instances that I remember when I have to tell a family that something is very serious, like a ruptured aneurysm. I always tell them I will do the best I can to fix the problem. And when the problem of a life saving emergency is fixed; that feeling is like no other. That is why I went into medicine and love surgery."

"As equally gratifying is treating my passion for venous disease. I have always had an interest in the vessels that bring blood back to your heart. These vessels do an amazing job at returning blood to the heart in a very low -pressure system. It is quite amazing, actually. When this system fails, especially in the lower extremity, patients feel pain and ache of their legs. I am a very active person and I know that having pain after working out would greatly impact my life. It is unbelievably gratifying to treat someone venous insufficiency and varicose veins and help someone return to an active lifestyle without an ache in their legs or veins."

Dr. Brotman O'Neill recently joined Highland Parks Surgical Associates as a vascular surgeon and venous expert. She has also created The Vein and Wellness Center of New Jersey with Highland Park Surgical Associates. At Highland Park Surgical Associates, there is an outpatient center where both arterial and venous disease is treated. There is no down time after a procedure and patients can go about their routine as usual after their procedures.

Dr. Brotman O'Neill has given lectures at the state and national level on varicose veins, venous insufficiency and also deep venous disease. She has lectured to the University of Pennsylvania vascular fellows on this topic as well as vascular surgeons at the annual surgical conference at ACOS, amongst other meetings. She is also published in her field.

She is a member of the ACOS, Society of Vascular Surgery, AOA, NJ Vascular Society, EVC, SCVS, PVSS, and NJAOPS. Dr Brotman O'Neill trained under Dr. Herbert Dardik whom most recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Vascular Surgery.
