Dr. George Schwab Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Social Sciences

    NEW YORK, NY, August 01, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. George Schwab has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. During his six-decade career, Dr. Schwab has been a highly regarded educator and lecturer at the collegiate level whose expertise in social sciences brought him to opportunities with prestigious universities around the country, including Columbia University. Retired from teaching in 2000, he now dedicates his time to working with the National Committee on American Foreign Policy, a nonprofit policy organization dedicated to the resolution of conflicts that threaten U.S. interests. Dr. Schwab was a founder of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy in 1974 and the Committee's president from 1993 until his retirement in January 2015. His book, "The Challenge of the Exception: An Introduction to the Political Ideas of Carl Schmitt between 1921 and 1936" (1970: 2nd ed. 1989), was the first scholarly study of this controversial political and legal theorist and constitutional law professor, in the English-speaking world. The book was translated into Chinese, Japanese and Italian. In 2010, Dr. Schwab was the subject of a Prix Europa award-winning novel by Gwendolyn Chabrier titled "Behind the Barbed Wire," which was published in French, English, Italian and Russian. A member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Dr. Schwab was awarded the Order of the Three Stars (Latvia, 2002) and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor (1998).

Considered an expert in his field, Dr. Schwab prepared for his career by first pursuing his education. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the City College of New York, a Master of Arts from Columbia University and a Ph.D. from Columbia University. Dedicated to his continued professional development, he established himself in his industry as a leader through his affiliations with the German Studies Association, the CUNY Academy of Humanities and Sciences, the Committee on Conscience of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and the Commission of Historians of Latvia, and the Telos-Paul Piccone Institute. In recognition of his professional excellence in his career, Dr. Schwab was selected for inclusion into Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World. Looking to the future, Dr. Schwab intends to continue in his impactful work with the National Committee on American Foreign Policy.
