A licensed psychologist and marriage/family therapist in the state of Michigan, Dr. Tobin has maintained her own private practice serving patients out of her office in Birmingham, MI, for the past 34 years since 1983. A former teacher and counselor in the public school system and former college professor, Dr. Tobin spent several years as a psychotherapist for the Identity Center, Inc., and as Director of Treatment for Alternative Lifestyles, Inc., before forming her practice. Specializing in substance abuse and sexuality concerns, she also works with adults and couples in trying to understand and resolve various conflicts to attain a state of harmony.

Also recognized as an accomplished media consultant, philanthropist, community leader, and dating coach, Dr. Tobin is the author of the e-book "Love's 4 Magnetic Forces Creating a Strong, Healthy Relationship," published in 2017. She writes a quarterly newsletter. Her work in the community spans nearly 40 years, where she has spent time as co-chairman of the Birmingham Families in Action, on the board of directors for the HAVEN-Oakland County's Physical and Sexual Abuse Center and Oakland Area Counselors Association, on the board of directors and as a member of the executive board, vice president, and president of the Birmingham Community Women's Center, and as a member of the advisory board for the Woodside Medical Center for Chemically Dependent Women.

Working for the Michigan Psychological Association as a mass media consultant in 1983, and as a former member of the organization's intervention network and legislative committee, Dr. Tobin is a longtime member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the American Psychological Association, the American Association of Sex Educators, the Counselors and Therapists, and several sororities. She earned a BA and MA at Eastern Michigan University and completed a Master's degree at Michigan State University in 1975. Dr. Tobin was a National Institute of Mental Health fellow to study at the Kinsey Institute for Sex Research with Dr. Paul Gebhardt. A Wayne State University scholar from 1976 to 1978, she subsequently earned an Ed.D at Wayne State University in 1978. She received postdoctoral training with Dr. William Masters and Virginia Johnson at the Masters and Johnson Institute. In 2001, she was selected as one of 400 distinguished business and community leaders to be a member of the Republican Presidential Roundtable. She attended the inauguration of George W. Bush and met with senators and representatives to discuss national policies.
