Jackson Design and Remodeling Wins Three Master Design Awards

San Diego Firm Brings Home Two Gold Awards in Bathrooms and Additions Categories, Earns Bronze for Kitchens

SAN DIEGO, CA, October 06, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jackson Design and Remodeling (JDR), a San Diego-based design build remodeling firm, has won three Master Design Awards in the prestigious national awards program for professional remodelers run by Qualified Remodeler Magazine. Each year hundreds of design firms across the country submit their best projects across 23 categories. JDR claimed Gold in the highly competitive categories of Bathrooms (more than $75,000) and Additions (more than $250,000). JDR also earned a Bronze award in the Kitchens (more than $150,000) category.

The 39th annual Master Design Awards highlight innovative design solutions that helped to produce exceptional remodeling projects. The winning projects are featured in the September 2017 issue of Qualified Remodeler, on newsstands now, and are available to view online here.

"It's great to see the hard work of our entire team recognized," said President and CEO of Jackson Design and Remodeling, Todd Jackson. "We strive to create an atmosphere that fosters inspiration and creativity. Our talented designers continue to raise the bar every year. Their dedication and commitment to our clients is apparent in each and every home we transform."

JDR was honored with 2017 Master Design awards for the following projects:

Bathrooms More Than $75,000

JDR won a Gold award for a master bathroom with uncommon colors inspired by one of the client's favorite paintings, "Francesca," which now hangs in the space, creating a sense of unity and definition. Designed by JDR Senior Designer Sol Quintana Wagoner, this dramatic design started with the decision to build a curved wall in sparkling tile with intricate bohemian texture in shades of blue. The wall's built-in curved alder wood bench anchors an eye-catching free-standing tub in chartreuse. Throughout the room, alder wood elements balance the bright colors with the earthiness of wood. A chartreuse wall of tile gleams with dimensional texture and features a trio of windows that bring natural light into the space. The alder wood vanity, punctuated with petrified wood handles, connects with a table and bench for quiet reading or selecting jewelry before a night on the town. This rejuvenating space imaginatively expands on the traditional feeling of a bathroom and invites a relaxed appreciation of endlessly interesting surroundings.

Additions More Than $250,000

JDR earned a Gold Master Design award for a Del Mar home addition also designed by Sol Quintana Wagoner. The design focused on embracing the beauty of the home's natural surroundings while respecting the significant architectural integrity of the contemporary home. With no land to expand on, an imaginative design solution was achieved with the relocation of the kitchen and an addition on the second level. The addition was meticulously designed to seem as if it was always intended as part of the home. Inside, walls were removed and the open design now avoids any protrusions that distract from amazing ocean views. Immediately upon entering the new space, a sense of openness is established. A wall of floor-to-ceiling folding glass doors emphasizes the connection to the beautiful surroundings. With a louvered roof, glass side panels, remote control recessed screens, a fireplace, and recessed infrared heating elements, the outdoor living space is designed to be comfortably luxurious in any weather. For a home conveying a memorable visual statement, indoor/outdoor living is vividly enhanced in an exciting and expansive contemporary space.

Kitchens More Than $150,000

JDR earned a Bronze award for a San Diego kitchen remodel designed by JDR Senior Interior Designer and Design Department Manager Tatiana Machado-Rosas. The kitchen is in a suburban tract home surrounded by a community of homes with similar layouts. The clients wanted to dramatically change their living space, transforming its standard interior while retaining its sense of place. Large family gatherings are an essential aspect of the couple's lifestyle. They also share a deep appreciation for very clean, open, and uncluttered design with European simplicity. A total transformation of the existing kitchen and living space, which was dark and difficult to navigate, was required. A small amount of sq. footage was added near the bay window in the kitchen and in the dining area. A wall was removed between the kitchen and dining room, the ceiling was raised as much as possible, and several new windows were added. The home is now stunningly more functional, open, full of light, and visually connected to a beautiful outdoor space. The result is a wonderfully distinctive kitchen that thoroughly inhabits its surroundings and expresses the essence of European minimalism.

The Master Design Awards are chosen by six industry judges from across the country. Awards are given to Gold, Silver, Bronze and Honorable Mention winners. View the full list of categories and winners here.
