A widely regarded figure within his industry, Dr. Kim is a digital dental industry researcher in the Department of Dental Laboratory Science & Engineering for the College of Health Science, at Korea University. He has previously served in a number of roles with the school, including as a professor for the Department of Public Health Sciences in the Graduate School of Health Policy and Management, as president of the faculty senate, as an admission officer, and as president of the alumni association. Additionally, he previously served as chairman of the DLT test for the National Health Personnel Licensing Examination Board and as director of the education board for the Korean Dental Technologist Association.
Dr. Kim began his career at Yonsei University, earning a Master of Public Health. He then continued his education at Catholic University of Korea, where he received a PhD. He is certified by Korea University, the Korean Society of Dental Technology, the Minister of Health and Welfare, and Korean Dental Technologist Association. He is affiliated with the Korean Dental Laboratory Technology Professors Association, the Korean Academy of Dental Esthetic Prosthesis Technology, the Korean Academy of Prosthodontics, and the Korean Dental Laboratory Technology Research Society. He is also a member of the Korea Academia-Industrial Cooperation Society, the Korean Academy of Dental CAD/CAM Science and Engineering, the Removable Partial Denture Laboratory Technology Research Society, and the Korean Dental Implant Laboratory Technology Research Society. He has also served as chief editor and vice president for the Korean Academy of Dental Technology.
Outside of his roles with Korea University, Dr. Kim he has run a night-time course in dental technology that aims to help emigrants and disabled citizens gain the skills needed to become productive members of society as well as the dental industry since 2002. He has also conducted free denture service for the elderly in Sanbon Catholic Church, developed a standard curriculum for students majoring in stroke engineering, and published much of his work in domestic and international journals, such as the International Journal of Computerized Dentistry and the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kim has received several accolades and honors for his contributions to the field of dentistry. In 2004, he was presented with an Achievement Award from the Korean Academy of Dental Technology, and he later would receive an Achievement Award from the Korean Dental Technologist Association in 2011 and 2014. Honored with an Award from Korea's Minister of Health and Welfare in 2003 and 2011, he would also earn multiple Scientific Awards from the Seoul Dental Technologist Association in 2014. Additionally, he was recognized by Pride of Dental Technologists in 2015.
