Noted for his many contributions to the performing and pure plastic arts, Mr. Gordon serves as the CEO and founder of GORDONDANCE. Outside of his involvement with GORDONDANCE, Mr. Gordon serves as the CEO of Gordon Ranch, which was founded by his grandfather in 1902. Gordon Ranch is a working ranch and a fine art incubator.

A widely regarded expert in the professorship of dance, Mr. Gordon has personally served as an artist in residence, consultant and lecturer at more than 200 professional dance companies and world cultural institutions. In addition, he has received 120 commissions for original works of art in choreography, painting and drawing, and theatrical design. Mr. Gordon takes great pride in receiving a Japan Foundation Professional Fellowship. He has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Entertainment, Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America and Who's Who in the World. Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Gordon has received grants from numerous professional and educational institutions, including three Fulbright-Hays Grants. He was most recently selected to receive a Choreography Commission from Kanopy Dance.

Early in his professional life, Mr. Gordon considered pursuing a scientific career. While studying petroleum engineering, he started to develop friendships in the fine arts programs, which led him to take a modern dance class. Through completing this class, he met Shirley Dodge, who encouraged him to consider focusing on dance as his major field of study. Mr. Gordon went on to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Texas in 1965 and Master of Fine Arts in painting and choreography from the University of Wisconsin in 1967. He was later honored as the recipient of a Doctor of Fine Arts by the Nishikawa School in 1980.

A respected voice in the world of dance, Mr. Gordon has contributed articles to a variety of professional journals, including Japan Modern Dance Quarterly, Okura Lantern and Dance Scope. He has also been recognized as a columnist with Wisconsin Capital Times, Japan's Asahi Evening News and The Korea Times. In recognition of his dedication to the arts, Mr. Gordon has been the subject of numerous books and professional works in art, dance and theater. He has held several one-man world exhibitions featuring watercolor paintings, collage and mixed media, and his handmade paper scrolls.

Mr. Gordon is recognized as a former professor with the University of Wisconsin, as well as a former chairman of dance and director of development at the Performing Arts Center with the University of Nevada, Las Nevada. Most recently, Mr. Gordon served Illinois State University as the dean of fine arts between 2004 and 2008. Prior to his retirement in 2012, he was also recognized as the first fine arts world outreach professor and artist in residence with the university. Mr. Gordon has served as a member of the board of directors with the Asian Dance Association and American College Dance Association. He is recognized for his exceptional record of touring and creating worldwide.
