Mecca Bingo Campaign: Fair Deal for Bingo.

Over 40,000 members of the public have voiced their support of the Mecca Bingo campaign which aims to put a stop to the proposed increase of tax levied on bingo halls.

Struggling bingo halls are falling by the wayside as bingo is to become the most heavily taxed form of gambling, with halls being taxed at 22% in comparison to all other gambling sectors which are taxed at just 15%.

Although the government has refused to budge on the proposed increase in tax, Mecca Bingo is loyally continuing with its campaign to keep bingo tax in line with all other forms of gaming in the UK. Mecca Bingo has fought a long and hard battle against this high tax rate and it is not a fight the leading bingo provider will be giving up lightly.

MP Stuart Hosie was at the forefront of the 'I'm Backing Bingo' campaign and expressed his disappointment after he brought the debate to government and the proposed amendment was dismissed:

"Labour has hung the bingo industry out to dry. This amendment was a chance to do the right thing by the bingo industry and they have failed"
