INDIANAPOLIS, IN, December 19, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jeff Harlow, a recently retired pastor of a church of over 3,000, recently wrote his first book to help pastors and board members successfully navigate major leadership transitions: Dancing with Cinderella: Leading a Healthy Church Transition. Drawing from his own story as well as the metaphor of a father giving away his daughter on her wedding day, Jeff provides first-hand insight into the core principles and phases of a healthy church leadership transition.
While Jeff's book certainly provides practical guidance for passing the baton, it also goes beyond mere exit strategy to help leaders deal with the challenging emotions of ministry transition.
"Pastors must come to grips with the humbling fact that God's purposes have longer shelf lives than His leaders. He was strategically working through your predecessors, He strategically works through you, and He will strategically work through your successors. Therefore, we can't afford to fumble the hand-off."
Dancing with Cinderella prepares church leaders and members to identify and confirm a successor; recast the church's vision; orchestrate the swan song; and navigate the cultural transition with grace.

Under his leadership, Crossroads grew from less than 60 to a congregation of more than 3,000, and the scope of the church's mission expanded from serving a handful of families to reaching thousands across north central Indiana. Jeff led Crossroads through a strategic succession plan that ended with the reigns of leadership in Chris Duncan's hands and the church in full stride in its mission.
