Pierre Bayenet Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in International Law

Mr. Bayenet serves as a barrister in Geneva representing clients in international human rights cases

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND, September 08, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Pierre Bayenet has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Whether defending clients against police misconduct or safeguarding families from home eviction, Mr. Bayenet has championed human rights cases as a barrister before courts in Switzerland and the European Court of Human Rights. His private practice operates from the law offices of Bayenet and Mizrahi in Geneva, and is available for any possible appeal to a supra-national human rights jurisdiction or commission.

Though Mr. Bayenet practices law in Europe, he spent his secondary school years at Euclid High School in Ohio. He attended the College de Stael in Geneva, and studied law with the University of Lausanne and the University of Zurich in Switzerland, bolstering those qualifications with an LL.M. from King's College of London in the U.K. In 2006, Mr. Bayenet worked with the Amnesty International United Nations Office in Geneva, followed by two years as a trainee lawyer with the law firm of Oberson and Vouilloz. In 2010, he launched his legal practice and joined the University of Geneva as a legal advisor.

Mr. Bayenet's favorite tools are the European Convention on Human Rights and the United Nation Convention Against Torture, two conventions that he has deployed to offer protection for victims of state violence. He has championed the rights of demonstrators, human rights activists, and labor union members. Mr. Bayenet has frequently defended the right of housing exercised by clients who were evicted with no judicial decision and no established safeguards. Many of his cases are considered landmark precedents in Swiss law.

Additionally, Mr. Bayenet is a member of the Juristes Democrates Suisses, the Association des Juristes Progressistes, and the Ordre des Avocats de Geneve. When not practicing law, Mr. Bayenet enjoys permaculture gardening, mountaineering, and spending time with his family. He is the father of three boys.
