Richard Alan Gantz Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

    INDIANAPOLIS, IN, July 17, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Richard Alan Gantz a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Mr. Gantz celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. A museum administrator and educator who has dedicated his entire career to the field, Mr. Gantz first started as a social studies teacher for Fort Wayne Community Schools in Indiana, the very same city in which he was born and raised. Moving into various other roles after spending four years in the classroom, he worked as a National Park Service seasonal historian, adjunct faculty member for two universities, director of the Indiana Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology, and as director of the Division of State Museums and Historic Sites, he secured approval and construction of a new Indiana State Museum. Most recently, Mr. Gantz has been serving as principal of Heritage, Documentation, Preservation Services in Indianapolis, providing consulting services to various museums and preservation projects since 2001.

Mr. Gantz brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the field, as both a museum administrator and an instructor. He completed a Bachelor of Science in education with honors at Ball State University, a Master of Arts from George Washington University, and a PhD from Indiana University. Further, he received an Indiana Life Teaching License and a certificate from the Preservation Institute of Nantucket. Mr. Gantz has dedicated much of his time to his community in many capacities. He served as chairman of the Indiana Historic Exchange Council, and the Indiana Historic Bridge Committee. Additionally, he was a member of the Steering Committee of the Department of Commerce for Heritage, Tourism and Education, and a member of the Project Committee of Indiana Heritage Trust. As part of his civic efforts, Mr. Gantz served on the Indiana Main Street Council, as secretary of the New Harmony State Commission and as a member of the White River State Park Commission, the Indianapolis Athletic Club Art Foundation, the Indiana Governor's Millennium Task Force, the Governor's Residence Advisory Committee and acted as a member of the Governor's 2016 Task Force. He is a member of the board of directors of the Indiana Medical History Museum.

Throughout his career Mr. Gantz maintained affiliation with the American Association of State and Local History, the Association of Indiana Museums, The Association of Midwest Museums, and Indiana Landmarks. He was also aligned with the Indiana Association of Historians, the Indiana Historical Society, the Indiana Medical History Museum, and the Organization of American Historians. He has served as secretary, vice president, chairman, and on the board of directors of many of these organizations as well. Listed in a number of Who's Who publications, including Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the Midwest, Mr. Gantz has received several awards and accolades, including a Service Recognition from the National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers, two Service Awards from Indiana Main Street Council, and two Certificates of Appreciation: one from the Indiana Canal Society and one from the Indiana Lieutenant Governor. He also received a distinguished alumni award from Fort Wayne South Side High School.

Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1946, Mr. Gantz is married to wife, Ruth Ann Kennell, and has one child, Sally Elizabeth.
