Richard Bentley Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in City & Housing Development

Mr. Bentley celebrates a career that spans more than 50 years



    AMHERST, MA, August 16, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard Bentley has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

In a career that began in 1964, Mr. Bentley has met with success by remembering one thing: hard work begets results. Now regarded for his work as a regional planner, writer and educator, he came to prominence through roles that have allowed him to develop skills in said areas. He has served as a senior planning manager for the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission, a planning director for the Boston Housing Authority, and the chief of planning for the Mayor's Office of Housing. In addition, Mr. Bentley has worked as a chief project manager for several organizations, including the Massachusetts Department of Community Affairs, Advisory Services for Better Housing, Rose Associates and the Kate Maremont Foundation. Aside from his work as a planner, he served as an instructor for the Housing Development Specialist Program in Washington, the International City Management Association, the University of Massachusetts and the Western New England College. Mr. Bentley's insights and talents as an author can be identified in "Post-Freudian Dreaming," "A General Theory of Desire," and "All Rise," three publications he has released since 2002.

To prepare for his career, Mr. Bentley earned a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University in 1959 and a Master of Fine Arts from Norwich University in 1992. He remains at the top of his field through his affiliation with the American Planning Association, the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, the Association of Yale Alumni Assembly, the Society of Mayflower Descendants, the Association of Personal Historians, of which he was a founding member, and the Harvard Club. To recognize him for the outstanding work he has performed in his career, Mr. Bentley was selected for inclusion in Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World.
