Riverside Methodist Hospital and Grant Medical Center Named to U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospital List

Ranking on the top-50 Best Hospitals in America list, Columbus hospitals, Riverside Methodist Hospital and Grant Medical Center of OhioHealth, were recognized by U.S. News & World Report.

COLUMBUS, OH, July 24, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- U.S. News & World Report magazine announced that Riverside Methodist Hospital and Grant Medical Center have been ranked as Best Hospitals in America for 2009. Grant was recognized in two categories, ranking 32 out of 50 in orthopedics and 42 out of 50 in diabetes and endocrine disorders. Riverside was recognized for its excellence in diabetes and endocrine disorders, ranking 46 out of 50.

"As one of the most recognized rankings in our industry, the impact of this honor is beyond measure," said President of OhioHealth Dave Blom. "Not only does it serve to elevate the reputation of our care sites and our system as a whole, it is an external proof point of OhioHealth's commitment to clinical innovation and delivering the highest quality of patient care."

U.S. News develops its list based on key indicators including mortality rates, reputation, technology, certifications and patient and community services. Grant's nationally recognized orthopedics program helps to support its Level I Trauma Center, one of the busiest in the state. This is the fifth time Grant has been ranked as a Best Hospital by U.S. News & World Report and the eighth time for Riverside.

"Whether it is our national rankings for quality and patient satisfaction, Magnet designations, our FORTUNE magazine " Best Places to Work" honor, or this most recent acknowledgment, recognition of any OhioHealth facility reflects on the success of the entire system," Blom said. "Each is a reminder that when the hard work of individuals and teams are all focused on our patients, recognition naturally follows. More importantly, it reflects the fact that we are making a difference in the health and lives of the patients and communities we serve."

Both Grant and Riverside are members of OhioHealth, a not-for-profit family of hospitals and healthcare providers based in Columbus, Ohio. For more information, go to U.S. News America's Best Hospitals page.
