Robert Mark Brooks Recognized for Dedication to Engineering, Education and Humanitarian Service

Dr. Brooks has contributed to more than 40 national and international papers

    PHILADELPHIA, PA, December 21, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Robert Mark Brooks has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. A widely regarded civil engineer, Dr. Brooks has served as an associate professor of civil engineering since 1996, and as an assistant professor of civil engineering from 1991 to 1996. He previously worked as an assistant research engineer with the University of California Berkeley's Institute of Transportation Studies in 1989 and 1990. Throughout his career, he has contributed to more than 40 national and international research papers on civil engineering materials, engineering and humanitarian service. Most recently, he was credited as a co-author of ""Electrospun Co-TiC nanoparticles embedded on carbon fibers..." which was published by the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy in 2017. Additionally, he had published 24 national and international papers on engineering education. This is the highest number of papers published on the field. He is a registered professional engineer in Pennsylvania, and he serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering. His paper, "Removal of Lead from Contaminated Water," published in the International Journal of Soil, Sediment and Water, Volume 3, issue 2, 2010 has been downloaded 9887 times by readers in 157 institutions in 59 countries. This is the largest downloaded research paper on the planet ever recorded. Dr. Brooks was evaluated as the most outstanding volunteer among all 800 volunteers nationally deployed by the American Red Cross for serving the people of West Virginia during its One-in-1,000-year Flood, June 23-24, 2016.

Dr. Brooks earned his MS in Civil Engineering in 1988 and a Doctorate in Engineering in 1989 from the University of California, Berkeley. He obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from the Northwestern California University School of Law in 2013. He is a recognized fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, where he was vice chair of the committee on dissemination of failure information on the council of forensic engineering in 2007, and the former president of the Philadelphia chapter of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers.

Throughout his career, Dr. Brooks has been continually recognized for his contributions to the field of civil engineering. He has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, and Who's Who in Science and Engineering, with his earliest appearance dating back to 1996. He is the recipient of National Outstanding Teacher Award from American Society for Engineering Education in 2015: award criteria involves teachers of any subject in an ABET accredited engineering or engineering technology curriculum are eligible, as well as those teaching humanities and social studies, mathematics, science, applied science and computing science, and is based on over 3,700 programs at more than 750 colleges and universities in 30 countries which have received ABET accreditation. This criterion qualifies this award to hold the largest scope of teaching in the world. As he moves forward with his career, he intends to continue focusing his efforts on the causes of engineering, education and humanitarianism.
