Shield UI Introduces The All-New Grid Widget

Shield UI, a leading UI component vendor, is pleased to announce the fully functional Grid widget for displaying tabular data.

SEATTLE, WA, July 23, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Microsoft Excel is one of the most common software applications used for data analysis. Many in the industry will no doubt question this statement. But it provides the capacity to do anything from statistical analyses of databases to complex estimation tools with user-friendly front ends. Excel is everywhere you look in the business world- especially in areas where people are adding up numbers a lot, like marketing, business development, sales, and, yes, finance. But while Excel the program is reasonably robust, the spreadsheets that people create with Excel are incredibly fragile. There is no way to trace where your data come from, there's no audit trail, and there's no easy way to proof test spreadsheets. The biggest problem is that anyone can create data corrupted Excel file, without even noticing. Because it's so easy to use, the creation of even important spreadsheets is not restricted to people who understand programming and do it in a methodical, well-documented way.

Shield UI is upping the game by introducing the highly customizable and extremely fast Grid control- a powerful widget that allows visualizing, and editing data via its table representation. If one wants to present his/her work with tabular data in web applications he/she has to use HTML or other libraries (grid). The Shield UI Grid control is designed to work with tabular data (either local or remote) and therefore supports all commonly used functions for data analysis like: Grouping, Sorting, Filtering and Aggregate functions:

- Grouping feature allows to easily group grid data by dragging the columns with the mouse or using the grouping API.
- Sorting feature allows end-user data sorting for the rendered data out-of-the-box. Custom api allows triggering of the sorting mechanism via code. Multiple sorting modes enable coverage for all sorting behaviors by simply setting the API of the control.
- Filtering features allows to set custom conditions so that only certain data is displayed in order to focus on specific information in large database.
- Aggregate functions perform calculations on your data set by applying aggregate functions like COUNT, MIN, MAX, AVERAGE and custom ones.

Furthermore, the Shield UI Grid control is applicable in a selection of common scenarios. 1. Using HTML table for showing static tabular data in an application. In case of simple HTML table developers have to thing separately for paging, filtering, etc. If Shield UI Grid is used then these features come as standard and can be customizes. 2. Using of HTML table for showing filtered data, which is dynamically changed. HTML table has to be redrawn after each filtering and Shield UI Grid has the option to bind JSON data with table dynamically. 3 Using of HTML to collect information list from user. With Shield UI Grid, developers don't need to write some JS/jQuery code in order to append new row to existing table, or delete row from existing table. Shield UI Grid provides intuitive interface from where new rows can be added by giving only JSON data. 4 Extract selected row's data from HTML table. For this scenario Shield UI Grid gives selected data as JSON object. 5 Binding to hundreds of thousands or even millions of records without any performance hits, due to optimized virtualization mechanism of the Shield UI Grid control, which loads only the required record for the current view.
