TARZANA, CA, June 07, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Misaligned teeth are a common problem, affecting most people to some degree. Many malocclusions, or misaligned teeth, are caused by hereditary issues while others can be caused by dental problems such as missing teeth or a history of thumb-sucking. Over time, misalignments can lead to other dental issues, such as tooth decay and gum disease. Correcting malocclusions can improve long-term dental health. Tarzana dentist, Dr. Anoosheh Shahkarami, is now offering orthodontic treatments with Invisalign.
Invisalign has been available for more than 20 years, and it continues to be one of the most popular orthodontic treatments. Invisalign uses clear plastic aligner trays to gently move teeth. Dr. Shahkarami takes dental impressions of a patient's teeth before treatment, and the impression is used to make a mold for the customized aligners. The aligner is slid over the top and bottom teeth, and it is nearly invisible. It will be worn for about two weeks and removed only for meals, brushing and flossing. At the end of two weeks, a new aligner tray is provided to keep teeth moving.
Patients can enjoy many benefits by using Invisalign, including greater privacy, convenience and comfort. Treatment is often faster, and there are no brackets or wires to work around. Invisalign is a great option for many people but might not be right for everyone. Invisalign is most appropriate for:
• Older teens and adults
• Patients with healthy teeth and gums
• Patients with underbites or overbites
• Patients with crowded or gapped teeth
Patients who have bridges or implants might not be candidates for Invisalign.
