Dr. Arthur Agatston, creator of the South Beach Diet & Agatston Score, adds two new well-known doctors to the Agatston Center, making it the most comprehensive concierge medical practice in Miami.

MIAMI, FL, July 26, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Judi Woolger has enjoyed a career at the University of Miami Health System for several decades in the areas of internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and prevention, health maintenance, medical consultation, preoperative care, preventive medicine, women's health and she has a particular interest in nutrition. Dr. Woolger was honored with secondary appointments in the Departments of Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry. She has been listed in the 100 Best Doctors in America for several years. Her leadership in the Executive Medicine Group program has been instrumental in the care of many of the University's leadership, donors, partners and board members. Dr. Woolger is a Diplomate of the ABIM, attended the University of Florida College of Medicine and performed her residency at JHS-Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Dr. James Trice, III has been employed by University of Miami Health System since 2001 as an internal medicine physician and a Clinical Assistant Professor of the Executive Medicine Group. His influence in the development and delivery of concierge medical care has established the University of Miami as a leader in executive care. Dr. Trice attended the University of Michigan Medical School and performed his residency at The University of Virginia Hospital.

"We are ecstatic to have these established physician leaders onboard with our practice," said Arthur Agatston, M.D., Chairman of The Agatston Center. "Judi and Jim have long been contemporaries whom I have admired. Becoming colleagues under one roof allows us to set new expectations for expert care in private medicine. This addition to our existing physician staff will expand our ability to provide seamless care to our patients on an optimal health platform leveraging cutting-edge technology and our partners in specialty care."

Dr. Woolger and Trice will join The Agatston Center for Private Medicine in August of 2018 and will be accepting new patients immediately.

The Agatston Center is a retainer based preventive cardiology and internal medicine office providing personalized healthcare to patients through proven expertise and unfettered accessibility. Each patient of The Agatston Center benefits from the collaboration of all physicians continually reviewing diagnoses, treatment protocols, cutting edge science and technology and determining best practices for the individual. This shared approach provides patients with a world class healthcare experience.

In 1990, Arthur Agatston, M.D. created The Agatston Score which globally is the single most used method of quantifying coronary artery calcium. Dr. Agatston's contributions to medicine also include authoring "The South Beach Diet", publishing more than 200 scientific articles and abstracts in medical journals and founding the nonprofit Agatston Research Foundation for conducting and funding original research on diet, cardiac health and disease prevention.

Although Dr. Arthur Agatston maybe most widely known as the creator and author of The South Beach Diet, his contribution to medicine with his development of the "Agatston Score," is arguably the most significant preventive cardiology tool utilized by experts internationally, The Agatston Score is a method of screening for coronary calcium as an indicator of atherosclerosis that is considered by most experts to be the best single predictor of a future heart attack. Although the development of the Agatston Score and The South Beach Diet are major achievements, Dr. Agatston's primary mission has always remained the same: Deliver the best available care to his patients in the most efficient and timely manner.

In 2004, he also founded the nonprofit Agatston Research Foundation for the purpose of conducting and funding original research on diet, cardiac health, and disease prevention, and more recently founded and opened the Agatston Center for Private Medicine, an internal medicine and preventive cardiology practice that offers personalized healthcare to patients through unfettered accessibility.

Private medical care or concierge medicine has become more prevalent in recent years and has become a widely accepted practice. Private care allows patients and physicians to spend the necessary time screening and personalizing a care plan that becomes preventive in avoiding health issues rather than reactive after a patient's health is at risk. Preventive medicine in an accessible and timely manner is beneficial to both the patient and physician. Patients benefit from an opportunity to alter lifestyle habits which may pay dividends over time and close monitoring by physicians allows for better and more attentive care to be provided. Of course, the Agatston Center for Private Medicine provides for patients who require care on a more acute basis to help in a health crisis as well.

Aside from Dr. Agatston, four other experienced internal medicine colleagues provide care for patients as well. Dr. Islon Woolf and Dr. Cindy Shaffer have worked with Dr. Agatston for many years and The Agatston Center recently welcomed Dr. Judi Woolger and Dr. James Trice to the practice. Each patient of the Agatston Center benefits from the collaboration of all five physicians continually reviewing diagnoses, treatment protocols, cutting edge science and technology and determining best practices for the individual. This shared approach provides patients with a world class healthcare experience.

The practice boasts unfettered access to both primary care and specialty physicians, assistance with obtaining diagnostic services, inpatient advocacy when patients are hospitalized and a great sense of peace knowing the team is vigilant about the best of the best for its patients.
