LOS ANGELES, CA, April 26, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The film industry is all a buzz with the latest mention of a new dramatic film in the works called Ninth Ward Desire which features an All Star cast. Sources close to the developing project which is nearing the end of pre-production, tell us the film is being directed by two time Oscar award winning sound mixer Willie D. Burton who is best known for his work on Roots, The Color Purple, The Shawshank Redemption, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Green Mile, Dreamgirls, In the Line of Fire, Bird, The Buddy Holly Story, and most recently, Straight Outta Compton. "Ninth Ward Desire" will be Burton's directorial debut. "I'm excited about this film because it touches on an issue people are afraid to talk about," said Burton who is currently prepping to sound mix for Denzel Washington's new movie Fences. "I'm happy to have met the super talented writer Clarence Nero who authored the book 'Cheekie, a Child of the Desire' from which this movie is adapted from. This script is raw, honest, and deep rooted with issues that are still prevalent today such as sexual child abuse and domestic violence."
In fact, to back up how serious the creators of this film are to it's core message, they have attached The Enough Abuse Campaign which is a non-profit organization supported by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Enough Abuse and Ninth Ward Desire hope to inspire people to take action in the fight against sexual child abuse and domestic violence. Ninth Ward Desire isn't just a movie about a very serious issue. It's a movement," said Burton. "Sexual child abuse and domestic violence is a silent epidemic and so widespread that all of us either know someone who has been victimized by this type of abuse or has abused." Of course, we couldn't stop until we convinced Ninth Ward Desire's creators to spill a bit of tea...with the film still in its pre-production phase, Mr. Burton was pretty hush hush about the juiciest of details, but he was generous enough to reveal at least two members of the all star cast, VH1's Hit the Floor's heart throb McKinley Freeman and Lamman Rucker, of Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married, who stars in OWN's newly developed drama series Greenleaf. "Although we are still casting for several parts," said Burton, "The celebrity support we've received has been overwhelming and we've been blessed to have the 'problem' of choosing from such a talented pool of individuals."
