A highly educated professor who has been teaching interdisciplinary studies at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA, since 1993, Dr. Dennison has also been teaching apologetics at the Ministerial Training Institute of The Orthodox Presbyterian Church, in Willow Grove, PA, for the past 17 years and is a fellow in apologetics at Greystone Theological Institute in Coraopolis, PA, since 2015. His primary focus includes interdisciplinary intellectual historical content of Modern Europe; particularly, 19th and 20th century German theology, philosophy, and history. Additionally, he is involved with methodological issues in the field of interdisciplinary studies.
A former visiting professor of apologetics and systematic theology at Northwest Theological Seminary for 12 years and former adjunct assistant professor of philosophy at Calvin College from 1988-1992, Dr. Dennison was also a longtime Bible instructor at Calvin Christian High School in Grandville, MI, from 1977 to 1993, and two-time department chair. His research in his areas of expertise has led to his authoring of several books, including "Karl Marx: Modern Thinkers Series" in 2017, "In Defense of the Eschaton: Essays in Reformed Apologetics" in 2015, and "The Young Bultmann: Context for His Understanding of God, 1884-1925" in 2008. He has also contributed numerous articles to professional journals such as Kerux: The Journal of Northwest Theological Seminary.
A longstanding member of the Evangelical Theological Society and the Association of Integrative Studies, and charter member of the Society of Christian Philosophers and The International Society of Christian Apologetics, Dr. Dennison earned a BA in Biblical Literature and Philosophy from Geneva College in 1973, MDiv from Westminster Theological Seminary in 1976, and ThM in Apologetics from Westminster Theological Seminary in 1980. He then completed coursework in the Graduate School of Theology at the University of Notre Dame in 1985, before completing a PhD in 19th and 20th Century German Theology, Philosophy, and Intellectual History at Michigan State University in 1992. An ordained teaching elder in Presbytery of the Southeast of The Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Dr. Dennison is married to Patricia A. Atria with three children. Highlighted in the 64th and 65th editions of Who's Who in America, he loves to play golf and coach basketball in his free time.
