Won Ju Hwang, PhD Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Since 2012, Dr. Hwang has been serving as a professor at the College of Nursing Science at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, South Korea. Previously, she served as a senior research specialist and project manager at the College of Nursing: Nursing Policy Research Institute at Yonsei University. From 2010 to 2011, Dr. Hwang also served Yonsei University as a research professor at the Graduate School of Public Health. She was a teaching assistant for advanced quantitative research methods in the Department of Family Health Care Nursing at the University of California, San Francisco from 2009 to 2010.

Dr. Hwang received a PhD of Philosophy in Nursing from UCSF (University of California San Francisco), San Francisco, CA, USA. in 2010. She also graduated from Yonsei University in Seoul with a Master of Public Health majoring in Global Health in 2004 and a Bachelor's degree in Nursing in 1994. She is a registered as an advanced nurse practitioner in the state of California and as a registered nurse in New York and Connecticut.

Dr. Hwang has extensive experiences in occupational health and participated global health project in Ethiopia. Dr. Hwang has interests in the research areas of cardiovascular health, job stress, health promotion for vulnerable population, and global health nursing. Recently, Dr. Hwang conducts a cardiovascular risk reduction program for small-sized workplaces using socio-ecological model with the grant of National Research Fund, which is valuable for occupational health.

Dr. Hwang is the author of some books, which include "Public Health and Medical Related Law," published in 2017 by Hyunmun Sa, "Human Development," published in 2014 by Gomun Sa. She has also published numerous articles in professional journals, and has presented her research at various conferences and meetings in topics on public health. Dr. Hwang was invited to present her research paper titled, "Work-related cardiovascular disease risk factors using a socioecological approach," at International Congress of Cardiology in 2013. Additionally, Dr. Hwang's research on work-related cardiovascular disease risk reduction program development on women's health in the marketplace was covered by various media stations.

Dr. Hwang is an active member of multiple organizations. In 2017, she began serving as the executive of general affairs of the Korean Academic Society of Occupational Health Nursing. She is also a member of the Endo Association, the Korean Academic Society of Occupational Health Nursing, the Global Korean Nurses Foundation, the American Public Health Association, the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, Inc., the National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurse Associations, Inc., Sigma Theta Tau: Alpha Eta Chapter, the Association of Community Health Nurses, the Korean Academy of Nursing, and the Korean Academic Society of Community Health Nursing.

Dr. Hwang has received multiple awards and commendations for her contributions to public health field. Recently, in 2017 and 2013, she received the funding from Korean National Research Fund. In 2015, she was awarded with the HaeSan Occupational Health Academic Award, and in 2010, she was honored with the Pacific Rim Research Grant Fellowship from University of California, USA. Sigma Theta Tau honored her in 2010 with an International Small Grant and an Alpha Eta Chapter Research Grant, and in 2009, with the Alpha Eta Chapter Leadership Development Grant. Her other honors include the University of California San Francisco's Graduate Dean's Health Science Fellowship, awarded to her in 2007 - 2010; the P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship, awarded to her in 2008 and 2009; the Lucile Leone Scholarship, which she received in 2009.
