PLEASANTVILLE, NY, December 14, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Peter Quintus Eschweiler a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Mr. Eschweiler celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Urban planners are giants of organization, laying down whole roads, park systems and neighborhoods with a sweep of the drafting pen. Since 1960, Mr. Eschweiler has served as a municipal and county planner as well as an independent consultant in the New York area, helping to shape and protect treasured environments where people carry out their lives and leave lasting memories. In addition to his planning achievements in county planning, drought management, flood management, housing development, and storm damage avoidance, a highlight of Mr. Eschweiler's career was being able to create a senior housing facility, Ashbourne Hall, in his current home of Pleasantville.

Born in 1932 to Alexander Chadbourne Jr. and Dorothy Quincy Adams Eschweiler, Mr. Eschweiler came from a family of architects, but diverted from the family profession and studied city and regional planning at Cornell University in New York. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1955 and a Master of Regional Planning in 1957. Mr. Eschweiler joined the U.S. Air Force in 1957, serving for three years in the rank of lieutenant. In the years since his service, he also served in numerous leadership positions for the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, which presented him with the 1957 Bausch and Lomb Photogrammetric Award and the 1997 Meritorious Service Award.

In 1960, Mr. Eschweiler accepted a position as associate planner with Frederick P. Clark & Associates in Rye, New York, with whom he served for seven years before becoming chief planner of the Westchester County Department of Planning. Within one year he was made its deputy commissioner of planning, and in 1969, he became commissioner of planning, where he served until 1991. Concurrently, he also joined the New York Association of County Planning Directors, becoming its president in 1970 and again in 1975.

During his tenure as commissioner, he served as a leader with many professional groups, including Rotary International, the American Institute of Certified Planners (charter member), the National Association of Counties, the National Association of Regional Councils, and the New York State Association of Counties, of which he was president in 1980-81 and which presented him with its 1991 Recognition Award. In 1984-85 Mr. Eschweiler served as president of the National Association of County Planning Directors. Additionally, Mr. Eschweiler is a member of Sigma Chi and the Cornell Club of New York.

In the '90s, following his retirement from county service, Mr. Eschweiler became the planning advisor to the Greenway Community Council of the Hudson River Valley in New York, where he helped organize its system of intergovernmental regional planning along the Hudson between Albany and New York City. He joined the Mount Pleasant Public Library Men's Group, serving as its chairman since 2002. He has chaired the mission planning task force of the Presbytery of Hudson River, the Westchester County Drought Emergency Task Force, the Westchester County Flood Action Task Force, the Westchester County Geographic Information Systems Task Force, and was instrumental in the Pleasantville Housing Development Fund Company as president from 1997 to 2002. From 1997 to 1998, Mr. Eschweiler served on an advisory team to the Nassau County Planning Commission in New York. Since retiring from public planning in 2000, he has worked with the Pleasantville Business Support Council and served as director of the Westchester County Historical Society.

Mr. Eschweiler was the recipient of the 2005 Top Honor Award from the Westchester County Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, the 2004 Outstanding Community Service Award by the Pleasantville Chamber of Commerce, and the 2004 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Westchester Municipal Planning Federation. He was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, two volumes of Who's Who in Finance and Business in 2004 and 2009, as well as two volumes of Who's Who in Finance and Industry in 1998 and 2002. Mr. Eschweiler married Mickie Pauline Symonds in 1955, and they have two children, Susan Marie and Steven Adams Eschweiler.
