IRVINE, CA, June 03, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ransom and Claiborne join a prestigious team of top athletes known as Team APS. A few of APS's top performers include NFL's Bryan Hall of the 2012 Super Bowl Champions Baltimore Ravens; Bryan Gaul of the MLS 2012 Cup Champions LA Galaxy; MLB All Star athletes Troy Tulowitzki of the Colorado Rockies and Mike Napoli of the Boston Red Sox. Team APS athletes are not paid endorsers, but rather most of the athletes themselves approach APS in hopes of becoming a part of its organic and all-natural lifestyle.
Cody Ransom is originally from Mesa, Arizona, and has been a part of the major and minor league circuit for nine years. He bats and throws right and has played for numerous teams including the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Phillies, Arizona Diamondbacks, and the San Diego Padres, before becoming a utility infielder for the Chicago Cubs.
Ransom was first drafted in 1995 at age 18 by the Cleveland Indians, but chose not to sign so he could instead attend college at the Grand Canyon University in 1998. In college, Cody played as a shortstop and started in every game of the season. His team later won the Western Athletic Conference Northern Division in 1998. After college, Ransom was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 1998 MLB Draft. It was in 2001 when he made his major league debut against the Arizona Diamondbacks, a team he would later be signed too.
Cody currently plays for the Chicago Cubs as a utility infielder. He was claimed off waivers for the Cubs on April 16, 2013. Ransom's current statistics are an average hit of .222, with 24 home runs, and 8.2 RBI.
"Cody is a great athlete to work with and he's been in the business for a long time, so he really knows what it takes as far as nutrition to stay in top condition. We are excited he has chosen an all-natural path with All Pro Science," said APS Director Paul Edalat.
Preston Claiborne is currently a pitcher for the New York Yankees. He was drafted by the Yankees in the 17th round of the 2010 MLB Draft. Originally from Dallas Texas, Claiborne played college baseball for Tulane University in Louisiana; appearing in 84 games from 2007 to 2010. Claiborne made his debut in the major leagues on May 5, 2013, against the Oakland Athletics. In his first game, Preston pitched two scoreless innings without allowing a single base runner.
