Wingsuit BASE Jumping Is An Exciting Sport That Deserves More Recognition

CALGARY, AB, CANADA, February 08, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jay Vaughan, president and founder of MountainCultures.com—an online retailer of outdoor gear and equipment—is pleased to announce the addition of Alistair Clark to its MC Team Riders. Clark is an athlete whose sports specialties include wingsuit BASE jumping, speed flying and skydiving.

"Alistair is a perfect addition to our talented team of athletes," says Vaughan. "He's an incredible athlete who is pushing the limits of his own ability and looking to increase the popularity of this fearless sport. Watching him fly off the side of a mountain without hesitation is enough to take anyone's breath away."

Wingsuit BASE jumping is a controlled sport where a person flies through the air using a special jumpsuit called a wingsuit. This unique suit, which is designed with webbed wings, increases surface area on the human body—think flying squirrel—allowing it lift and glide. The final part of a BASE jumper's flight ends with the deployment of a parachute.

"I'm very pleased that Jay recognizes wingsuit BASE jumping as an exciting sport that deserves more and more recognition. It's the sponsorship and help of companies like MountainCultures that will help increase the awareness of this amazing sport," says Clark.

MountainCultures will add its logo to Clark's parachute and wingsuits. As well, Clark will be using a Contour video camera provided by MountainCultures to record his stunts and jumps from his unique perspective.

Clark resides in Calgary and says some of his favorite jump spots are located in the Alberta Rocky Mountains.
