GLENDALE, CA, May 25, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Helen A. Ryaciotaki-Boussalis, Director of the SPACE Center at California State University, Los Angeles, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in educational administration.
Ever since she watched the broadcast of the first moon landing, Dr. Ryaciotaki-Boussalis has been fascinated by the vastness and mystique of outer space. As the director of the SPACE Center at California State University, Los Angeles, she manages the university research center and supervises research students. Through her hard work and ability to adhere to demanding timelines, she found her place within the field. The second female student to ever graduate from New Mexico State University with a Ph.D., she has authored more than 125 publications.
Dr. Ryaciotaki-Boussalis received a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from New Mexico State University in 1979, a master's degree in electrical engineering from New Mexico State University in 1976, and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the New York Institute of Technology in 1974. She is a member of IEEE. Her many distinctions and honors include a Distinguished Women Award, earned in 2004, an Outstanding Professor Award from California State University, Los Angeles in 1995, and an Affirmative Action Development Program Award from California State University, Los Angeles in 1986. In the near future, Dr. Ryaciotaki-Boussalis hopes to continue her research and encourage more students to enter the engineering field.
