Atlanta Breast Enhancement Surgeons Selected for IDEAL IMPLANT Clinical Trial

Three plastic surgeons serving Atlanta area breast enhancement patients are now participating in the clinical trials for a revolutionary new implant design.

MARIETTA, GA, September 30, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Anthony Musarra, Dr. James Leake and Dr. Michael Petrosky, board-certified plastic surgeons at Plastic Surgery Center of the South (www.plasticsurgerycenterofthesouth.net), have been selected to participate in the clinical trial of the new IDEAL IMPLANT for breast enhancement. This implant advances the standard saline implant design to give the implant the more natural feel of silicone gel, without sacrificing the safety profile that has made saline the longstanding choice for many Atlanta breast augmentation surgeons.

"At Plastic Surgery Center of the South, we pride ourselves in offering our patients the latest technologies, and we're very pleased to be included in this clinical trial," says Dr. Musarra. "Dr. Petrosky, Dr. Leake and I are happy to be able to give our patients access to this next-generation implant design."

The IDEAL IMPLANT aims to offer the "best of both worlds," in Dr. Leake's words, by giving patients both the natural feel of silicone and the safety of a saline implant. Only a select few surgeons around the country have been chosen to participate in the clinical trials, which will evaluate the efficacy and longevity of the implants over a 10-year period.

"This implant was created to give Atlanta plastic surgery patients a better alternative than what's currently out there, but the really beautiful thing is that it does this without departing radically from what we already know works," Dr. Petrosky explains.

Like a standard saline implant, the IDEAL IMPLANT is filled with sterile saltwater, but unlike a standard saline implant it has multiple outer layers designed to give it a thicker, softer feel while minimizing the surface folds and rippling associated with saline implants. And unlike silicone gel, the IDEAL IMPLANT's sterile saline filler would absorb into the body's tissues naturally in the event of a rupture.

"As plastic surgeons, we're always striving for the next level of precision, the next more effective way to meet our patients' needs," notes Dr. Musarra. "We're excited about the IDEAL IMPLANT mainly because it could offer our Atlanta breast enhancement plastic surgery patients a better alternative."

IDEAL IMPLANT clinical trials are currently open to healthy women who live within 100 miles of participant surgeons and fit certain other specified criteria. Participants who meet the clinical trial's participation requirements and attend the required follow-up visits will be compensated from a fund established by the implant manufacturer. The implant surgery itself costs the same as a standard breast augmentation procedure and patients will be compensated upon completion of the trial period.

"This trial offers Atlanta breast augmentation patients an excellent opportunity to take advantage of a new implant design, and we would certainly encourage women who are interested to contact our offices in Marietta for more information," says Dr. Leake.

Plastic Surgery Center of the South (www.plasticsurgerycenterofthesouth.net) is located in Marietta, GA, only minutes away from Atlanta and many of its suburbs. The practice's three board-certified plastic surgeons have over 70 years of combined surgical experience. Most of the cosmetic surgery procedures they offer are performed at the practice's state-of-the-art outpatient surgical facility, which offers the latest safety innovations and modern creature comforts. All of the surgeons also retain staff privileges at nearby Wellstar Kennestone Hospital and Marietta Surgical Center for more extensive cosmetic or reconstructive surgeries.
