Score.ly Unlocks Award from AOL Ventures; Launches Alpha Website

Score.ly launches alpha website, fueled by startup competition win and funds from AOL Ventures.

TARRYTOWN, NY, October 06, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Score.ly unlocked its own achievement when it landed the top prize held recently at a Startup Weekend event in New York City. AOL Ventures awarded a $10,000 scholarship to fund the concept and bring a beta to the masses. Score.ly allows users to collect, manage and share their achievements with the world.

"Above all else, we chose the team that we believe had the highest potential to execute and move forward as a world-class company," said Shirley Xu, an associate with AOL Ventures and a judge at the event. "We liked many of the concepts at Startup Weekend, but the Score.ly team is exceptionally dedicated."

"We're thrilled with the win and the validation of our concept," said David Leibowitz, founder. "With the funds and positive momentum we've been hard at work on our alpha, which was just released."

Leibowitz confirmed that though in early stages, the alpha preview website (available at http://score.ly) is accepting new user registrations for a limited time as they gear up for the launch of their public beta.

About AOL Ventures:

AOL Ventures is the venture capital arm of AOL, focused on early stage investing in technology-centric consumer Internet companies. They are primarily interested in giving talented founders the unfair advantage they need to scale quickly and grow great companies and tend to focus on opportunities where the fund can bring a blend of their partnership's value mixed with some flavor of AOL (parent company) involvement. AOL Ventures generally looks to invest in Seed and Series A opportunities and is broadly interested in a variety of themes around AOL's core - content, advertising, local/mapping, paid services and communications.
