Invitation To Foodies - Don't Go To Hawaii...

Don't go to Hawaii to just eat great food.

SAN RAFAEL, CA, March 21, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Don't go to Hawaii to just eat great food. TasteHawaiiOnline.com wants travelers to journey to Hawaii for a little more than the usual vacation options.

In September on Maui at the Makena Beach and Golf Resort, the first annual "Invitation To Foodies" seminar will ask conscientious travelers to not only go to Hawaii for snorkeling, surfing and helicopter rides but to take some time to meet local non-profits who help provide identity to local communities.

"We started shining a spotlight on Hawaii non-profits in 2009 by putting some of them on our website. We gave them a title - the "Hawaii Community Angels." And on Twitter, we called on conscientious travelers to donate to those non-profits," says Paul Baidoa, founder of TasteHawaiiOnline.com.

"Thank you for helping the Friends of the Children's Justice Center of Maui," says Mark Givensel, Board Member, Friends of the Justice Center of Maui, in a recent email.

"It really is an amazing thing you're doing. Thanks again for your continued support," says Cindy, Hawaii Red Cross Twitter blogger.

The 2011 Hawaii Community Angels are the Friends of the Children's Justice Center of Maui, Haku Baldwin Center and Ka Lima O Maui. These non-profits will receive a share of each ticket purchased for the "Invitation To Foodies" seminar.

"In September, 2010, we believed that we could do more than the once-a-month calls for donations on Twitter. So the culinary event on Maui was born," says Baidoa.

The "Invitation To Foodies" seminar is a 3-day culinary and cultural event that explores Hawaii's farm-to-table movement that focuses on eating locally grown and locally raised products and how new cuisine is inspired by Hawaiians and kama'aina from Asia, Europe and North and South America.

The seminar includes Hawaiian cultural activities and music, cooking demonstrations by local chefs, wine tastings by local sommeliers and panel discussions about food in Hawaii by local farmers. The lectures will inspire attendees to eat fresh, healthy food, grow their own organic gardens and build a community of farmers and chefs to benefit their own communities.

Local chef personalities include Chef Marc McDowell, Chef Beverly Gannon, Chef Ryan Luckey, Chef James McDonald and Chef Brian Etheridge.

Besides the food and wine tastings - breakfast and lunch is included along with a 4-course gourmet wine dinner.
