Blue Tax Resolves Stressful IRS Assessment for Business Owner

Frustrated taxpayer turns to Blue Tax attorneys for help with business tax.

LOS ANGELES, CA, March 22, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- It's bad enough for a business owner to be re-assessed taxes for a company that he owns, imagine being re-assessed for a company that you no longer own! That's exactly what happened to Mark (Panama City, FL) who came to the office of Blue Tax upon receiving a tax re-assessment notice for $25,000 from the IRS for a business he had already sold.

Naturally, the greatest challenge for the Blue Tax team was in finding out why Mark was being assessed for a business he was no longer apart of. The Blue Tax team of attorneys set the goal for themselves to resolve the issue and lower this client's liability as much as possible.

Blue Tax jumped into action by quickly filed a Power of Attorney and contacted the IRS to see why the client was still being assessed. The IRS responded that the closed company needed to file taxes for 2007, 2008, and 2009. Upon delivering this news to the client, he informed us that he had sold the business as of 12/31/07.

Blue Tax requested that the client provide them with a notice of dissolution for the company, which he promptly did. Blue Tax, in turn, presented this notice to the IRS. Upon receipt, the IRS said the client no longer had to file his 2008 and 2009 returns but he would still need to file his 2007 return. We let him know to have his CPA prepare his delinquent final closing statement for his 2007 return, which he did. He sent Blue Tax the return, which was immediately sent to the IRS.

Once the return posted in the IRS system, he had a zero balance as far as the business was concerned. The team of attorneys at Blue Tax eliminated about $25,000 in debt by expediting the client's return for his 2007 tax year (1120s). Since the IRS had been correctly notified that he was no longer apart of the business, this client could rest worry-free, knowing he would never be incorrectly assessed again for this business.
