Marcia McVicker Stubbs Named VIP of the Year for Excellence in Project Cost Management

Marcia "Micky" McVicker Stubbs significantly reduced costs for Northrop Grumman/Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding projects under her control, in some instances by more than 50 percent



    AVONDALE, LA, June 22, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marcia "Micky" McVicker Stubbs, Cost Project Manager for Northrop Grumman/Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who as a VIP of the Year for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in controlling material and labor costs on a project in excess of $1.2 billion. The amphibious battleship she works on, the seventh in its class, is the only ship that, at its comparable stage of completion, is still on track to return a profit.

For over 20 years, Ms. Stubbs has proved her ability to maintain a professional attitude in every aspect of her career. As a cost project manager for more than four years, she has assessed, quantified, monitored, and charted manning levels, material issues, risk mitigation and opportunity harvesting strategies and achieved optimal workgroup performance. Ms. Stubbs significantly reduced costs on projects under her control, in some instances by more than 50 percent. She has managed direct and indirect labor schedules, worked with craft superintendents and vice presidents, and performed duties both on and off the vessel as required. Having previously worked in the financial services industry, Ms. McVicker Stubbs was also tasked with the crucial responsibility of reporting program finance. She has been an integral part of the annual operating budget process during her entire tenure.

Ms. McVicker Stubbs earned an MBA in corporate finance from The Johns Hopkins University in 2002 and a Bachelor of Science in general studies from Towson University in 1987. She was honored with a volunteer recognition award from Northrop Grumman in 2010.

A member of the Project Management Institute, Inc. and the Huntington-Ingalls Risk Board, she recently served as president of the New Orleans chapter of The Johns Hopkins University Alumni Association. Ms. McVicker Stubbs serves on the Board of Directors of the Symphony Chorus of New Orleans.
