Barnes & Noble to Host Book Signing on May 5th @ Pacific Place Mall in Downtown Seattle

Seattle artist Gregory Copploe featured in new release titled "Contemporary Painters".

SEATTLE, WA, April 15, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Barnes & Noble will host a public book signing on May 5th, 2012 from 4:00 p.m to 6:00 p.m. to feature Seattle Artist Gregory Copploe, as he signs a new book titled "Contemporary Artists". Mr. Copploe was selected among 100 artists worldwide to be featured in this new hard bound modern painters edition published by Schiffer Publishing, and written by Charles McFadden and Danijela Kracun. "This book really highlights some incredible work, and I am honored to be selected as a featured artist and featured on the back cover" stated Copploe.

Mr. Copploe has a vast entertainment and artistic background which began with a UCLA Theatre Arts/Fine Arts Degree, and branched into stage, theatre, and oil painting. He began his career as a commercial actor and director, and was featured as a recurring actor on the daytime Soap "Opera Young & The Restless". He began oil painting in 2001 and was featured in several art openings and galleries in Los Angeles as well as Seattle, including the Warren Knapp Gallery in Capitol Hill and Ombu Spa and Gallery in Edmonds.

Gregory Copploe is an artist who likes to blend old and new styles together to create a portrait for today, which include elements from the past. As an homage to his father who passed in 2001, he began his journey in oils experimenting with sky, water and the creation of faces in the clouds. He branched out into prolific portraits inspired by Sergey Smirnov and Amedeo Modigliani. As a world traveler, Paris and Spain would also play an important role in influencing Gregory's style and palette, as he continued to paint the long faces and noses, pouting lips, and thought provoking eyes which told a story on each canvas that Mr. Copploe would so poignantly paint. Through thick, impressionist brush strokes, each character had a story to tell, an emotion to give, and each canvas created a relationship between the art enthusiast and the character depicted in each painting. " It was important for the eyes to have a life of their own, and not be dead or lifeless, but alive and virulent as our own souls". As Mr. Copploe put it, "Oil is such a sensual medium, and I couldn't imagine mixing it with any other. It gives me everything I require, and fills me with such joy and beauty that I am left completely full."
