MIAMI BEACH, FL, May 10, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- While complaining about the " Youth of today" is a common coffee break topic, Jase Haber takes it up a notch by depicting the drastic downfall of High School age children. Drug America documents an actual party and shows young teenagers taking drugs and engaging in promiscuous acts.

"When I was in high school I did see a few young kids doing hard core drugs. But it pales in comparison to what's happening now....How has it evolved so much and so fast?" says Haber who admits to some experimental soft drug use in high school. "This is becoming and epidemic and no one is paying attention."

According to the Center of Disease Control 9.5 % of high school kids have taken cocaine and over 30% have had substantial amounts of alcohol use before the age of 13. Additionally over 40% of students are using Marijuana and over 14% have sniffed glue.

In Drug America Haber interviews and gets into the mind of these troubled teenagers who use drugs and alcohol for various reasons but often as a remedy for emotional upset.

One girl admits to using Cocaine in order to cope with her parent's divorce. Another more drastic example shows a girl who robbed a judge's home and from there turned to prostitution to support her drug habit.

Some even more drastic examples include a young girl who was raped and tries to avoid the pain and suppress the trauma with hard drugs.

Haber feels parents play a vital role in this dilemma and hopes to remind them to keep a close watch on their children and their lifestyle.

"I would like for people to open their eyes and take care of these children. I know it can be difficult, but their parent's choices impact them and can lead them up hill or down the wrong path.

For example a divorce is difficult for all involved, but there might be ways to make it easier on kids and help them cope in a way that does not lead to drugs as a pain management source," says Jase who is expecting his own first child in the next two weeks.

Drug America is actor Jase Haber's first film as a director and has already been accepted to Colombia Gorge international film festival and is an official selection in the Toronto film festivals.

He is currently reviewing offers on his latest project "Diaries of a Dreamer".
