With a passion for reading and an educational background in English, Ms. Killebrew was inspired to empower young women through education. She has 35 years of professional experience and 13 years in her position with MLK Nation Exposure to Literature Academy, Inc. MLK Nation Exposure to Literature Academy, Inc. is an educational institution that provides services in writing, educating, publishing, teaching, creating resumes and cover letters, and preparing students for success and self-enhancement opportunities.

Throughout her career, Ms. Killebrew has become an expert in linguistics and black studies, helping underprivileged females achieve goals, empowering others to be their best, and fostering an interest in reading and self-advancement, and draws on her expertise to fulfill her responsibilities as the executive director and co-founder of the institution.

She attributes her success to her faith in God and her strong lifelong desire to help others. Ms. Killebrew received her Master of Arts in teaching from Trinity University. She is a member of the Washington Teacher's Union and the District of Columbia Council of Teachers of English. She is also the founder of the annual Queen Leah Achievement Beauty Pageant, which started in 2006 and is a nonprofit literacy training program open to young women of all races, colors and creeds.
