Dr. David G. Styles Inducted into Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Vocational Education

Dr. David G. Styles has received more than 30 professional recognition's and awards throughout his career

Stockton, CA, December 4, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. David G. Styles, Author and Historian, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in vocational education.

Dr. David Styles is an author and educator with concentrated areas of expertise in automotive technology and aviation history. Though he has been awarded numerous times throughout his career for his contributions to the study of automotive and military history, as well as his teaching in automotive technology, he is most proud of his work as coordinator of the Loughborough University scholarship program that allowed thousands of international students the opportunity to pursue degrees in their chosen fields of interest. While serving in the Royal Air Force was a partial inspiration for his decision to enter higher education, it is providing others with the spark needed to fuel their own passions that keeps him sharing his knowledge and talents with the world.

Having been in the auto industry for more than 25 years, during which he specialized in heavy vehicles and was the youngest regional manager for the York Trailer Company, Styles is an authority on automotive technology and an expert trainer. Among his accomplishments are the successful conversion of a group management center from costly to profitable operation and a fiscal turnaround of a Chrysler UK subsidiary. He also organized the establishment of training programs in Saudi Arabia to provide nationals with the skills necessary to improve auto maintenance and participated in the institution of programs to standardize and control truck weights. Back in England, he became program leader for the BTEC Motor Vehicle National Diploma course, achieving a 100% pass rate and established the first-ever Higher National Diploma full-time course at Stephenson College. At Loughborough College, he continued his work on the National Diploma program, including the creation of workbooks for students and coached 70% of his final-year students to Distinction Level scores.

Most recently, Styles committed himself to lecturing on automotive technology in both the UK and the United States and historical research for the Jimmy Doolittle Air and Space Museum, featuring historical artifacts and an educational program. He has also focused more on his publishing career, which has seen him create and produce 22 books, including the Cugnot Award-winning "As Old As the Industry - Riley." His latest work, "Two Flights to Victory" has been the subject of lectures at the Haggin Museum in Stockton, Calif., the California State Military Museum in Sacramento and other locations of interest to aviation history enthusiasts.

Styles' passion for the industry he has served and the people he has educated has been recognized many times over with prestigious awards, including: the Percy Riley Trophy and the Arnold Farrar Cup from the Riley Register; the Bob Currie Memorial Award twice from the Vintage Motor Cycle Club Limited; gold, silver and bronze medals from the International Automotive Media Conference; and an award of distinction from the Society of Automotive Historians. Who's Who named him "Professional of the Year" in 2010 for his work in vocational education. He earned a Ph.D. in business administration and automotive history and an MBA, and holds UK qualified teacher status.
