VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, August 01, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Randall Furman, Virginia Beach dentist, is happy that his practice is offering teeth replacement options such as crowns, bridges and dentures in Virginia Beach. Research suggests that 27 percent of patients experience their first tooth loss between the ages of 21 and 30. The most common reasons for tooth loss are tooth decay, gum disease and injury. Other causes include poor nutrition, teeth grinding and not having enough money for proper tooth care.
"I'm glad that our practice is able to offer patients a new lease on life when they are missing teeth. No one likes being self-conscious about their smile. With dentures, patients are able to improve chewing ability and speech so they can go on with their lives," said Dr. Furman, Virginia Beach cosmetic dentist.
Complete dentures are also commonly called "conventional" or "immediate" and are used when patients are missing most or all of their teeth. Virginia Beach dentures are referred to as "immediate" if they are used immediately after the removal of any remaining teeth. To make this possible, the dentist in Virginia Beach would have taken measurements of the patient's jaw in a previous visit. Partial dentures are used when a patient still has some teeth remaining. As well as improving speech and chewing ability, dentures also provide support for the facial muscles and greatly enhance the facial appearance and smile.
Bridges are also an option for patients who are missing a tooth or multiple teeth. Fixed bridges are cemented to existing teeth, making them a permanent restoration. Removable bridges, on the other hand, can be removed and cleaned at home. Which dental bridge (removable or fixed) is best for your dental problem can be determined by the dentist in Virginia Beach, VA.
