Nobody wants to pollute, and no business can afford the EPA fines, which are just huge.
ST. LOUIS, MO, December 16, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Battery Handling Systems, Inc., a leading manufacturer of battery handling and warehouse equipment, now offers a comprehensive solution for wastewater management. The Wastewater Recycling System Kit (WRS-2-KIT) builds on the successes of the original WRS with two portable tanks, a full set of filters and a transfer pump to reclaim water from battery wash stations.
With the WRS-2-KIT, operations can process wastewater from multiple locations. They can also offer this EPA-mandated service to their own customers to generate an entirely new revenue stream.
"Every business that creates hazardous waste must understand and implement the proper disposal practices," said Katy Cortinovis, Marketing Manager at BHS. "And this is dictated by the US Environmental Protection Agency."
The federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act holds responsible the waste generators for the content of their hazardous wastewater no matter where it ends up. Subtitle C of that law is nicknamed the "Cradle-to-Grave" rule; this part of the law created a system to track hazardous waste through its entire existence so that the EPA can always follow pollution back to its source. Polluters can be fined up to $50,000 per day -- and may even face jail-time.
The BHS Wastewater Recycling System was designed to process the runoff from washing forklift batteries, but the filtering system is equally effective on virtually any type of wastewater generated by common industrial processes. Managing wastewater is a crucial task for many industries, including metal working, finishing, and fabrication; equipment rental and repair; painting and coating; die casting; plating; and truck/equipment cleaning.
The WRS-2-KIT is a complete turnkey solution for portable wastewater management. The process is simple. Two 330 gallon tanks are fitted with fork slots for easy transportation via forklift. At the customer's facility, users pump out contaminated water and transport it back to the WRS system for processing.
Users can also bring along a full tank of clean water and a BHS Mobile Wash Station (MWS-48) to wash a customer's industrial batteries where they stand.
The Wastewater Recycling System processes contaminated water until it is completely safe -- and legal -- to reuse or wash down the drain. The system seals contaminants in a bentonite clay cake that meets all EPA regulations for landfill safety. After being processed with the WRS, both byproducts can be disposed of conventionally.
"Nobody wants to pollute, and no business can afford the EPA fines, which are just huge," said Cortinovis. "Every industrial operation needs a service like the one the WRS provides."
