Marilyn Davidson Celebrated By Marquis Who's Who In The Field Of Fine Arts

Ms. Davidson's Works are in the Permanent Collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum



    NEW YORK, NY, June 02, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marilyn Davidson has been included in Marquis Who's Who for her contributions in the field of fine arts as an internationally recognized sculptor and designer.

Ms. Davidson has exhibited her work at numerous galleries and museums; her art has been included in the public collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute, the Everson Museum, PS 1 (Group Performance Art/Painting) Long Island City, New York; the Georgia State University Collection; and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.

Maintaining a life-long dual role as artist and designer, Ms. Davidson has been honored with solo and group shows in galleries throughout the United States as well as England, Germany, Mexico, and Australia, while running the highly successful Davidson Design & Development, a firm she founded in 1998 and continues to manage to this day. Early on in her career, she established Design in Silver and Gold in Syracuse, NY, and subsequently became a member of the faculty of Syracuse University. She taught as a visiting lecturer at Penland School of Crafts, Chatauqua Institution and at several art colleges in Europe. Over the years, Ms. Davidson held design and executive roles with Entre Nous Designs, Hold-It Accessories and Liz Claiborne, and she worked in marketing, design and product development for Donna Karan, the American Museum of Natural History, the Jewish Museum, New York, and the Whitney Museum.

Recent solo and group exhibitions have included the Sculptors Guild "Currently 80" at New York's Westbeth Gallery; "Salt City Abstraction," from the permanent collection of the Everson Museum in Syracuse; "Personal Identity Matter," at Gallery MC, New York; "American Twist" at the Antenna Gallery in New Orleans; "Art from the Boros IV" at New York's Denise Bibro Fine Art and National Works on Paper in Louisiana at the McNeese Grand Gallery. Ms. Davidson has been reviewed in major prestigious publications, including The New York Times, Arts Magazine, The New York Art Review, New York Magazine, Interior Design Magazine, and House & Garden.

A recipient of numerous fellowships, including from the Ford Foundation, New York State Council on the Arts, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Ms. Davidson has been recognized many times for her professional and artistic accomplishments. Born in New York City, where she lives today, Ms. Davidson earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts from Syracuse University.

Ms. Davidson has also been featured in three editions each of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
