Dr. Ronald Archer Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Chemistry and Education

In his tenure with the University of Massachusetts, Dr. Archer progressed from associate professor in 1966 to professor of chemistry in 1970 and head of the chemistry department in 1977



    AMHERST, MA, June 02, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Ronald Archer has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. For more than five decades, Dr. Archer has demonstrated an expertise in all areas of chemistry and education. Now retired, he concluded his career as a professor of chemistry at the University of Massachusetts in 1999. In his tenure with the university, he progressed from associate professor in 1966 to professor of chemistry in 1970 and head of the chemistry department in 1977. Earlier in his career, Dr. Archer came to prominence as an assistant professor and associate professor for Tulane University, assistant professor for the University California, and teacher for Larson Junior High School. In recognition of his professional excellence, Dr. Archer was the recipient of an alumni achievement award from the Illinois State University and various scientific grants from the US Air Force Research Corporation, the National Science Foundation, the American Chemical Society and the Army Research Office. In addition, he was selected for inclusion into Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World.

Before establishing himself professionally, Dr. Archer prepared for his career by investing in his education. He attended the Illinois State University and achieved a Bachelor of Science in 1953 and a Master of Science in 1954. Later, he attended the University of Illinois, where he achieved a Ph.D. in 1959. To stay at the top of his field, Dr. Archer is tremendously involved in his professional community. He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Chemical Society. Additionally, he is a member of the New England Association of Chemistry Teachers, Sigma Xi, Phi Lambda Upsilon and Friends of the University of Massachusetts Libraries. As he looks to the future, Dr. Archer intends to enjoy retirement while taking on new projects and opportunities as they arise.
