Mr. Royal has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the music industry

Turning away from the traditional study of music, he began to combine and unite classical and jazz influences into his own unique brand of romantic jazz.

SARASOTA, FL, June 29, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Michael Earl Royal with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Royal celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Influenced by the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane and Bill Evans, Mr. Royal is a tenured and talented musician who has been playing the piano since he was just a child. Learning to play pretty much anything he could hear, he took a particular interest in the improvising at the piano, and by the age of five was exploring classical and jazz music, developing his own unique style. Mr. Royal's primary mentors, Jacques Abram for classical and Majid Shabazz for jazz, laid the significant foundation for his future musical pursuits. Turning away from the traditional study of music, he began to combine and unite classical and jazz influences into his own unique brand of romantic jazz.

By the 1970s, Mr. Royal had already begun a concert career, performing with both known and obscure jazz and popular celebrities which, at that time, was an honor. Now considered to be in the same league as some of the greatest pianists of all time, Mr. Royal has since continued in his journey in the music industry with great success. He has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Asia in London, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Athens, Lisbon, Copenhagen, Tokyo and Bangkok with many known musicians, and has also worked with such artists as Red Rodney, James Moody, Mel Lewis, Ray Brown, Steve Allen, Clifford Jordan, Ira Sullivan and Larry Coryell, as well as several of his own groups over the years. Still performing, composing, teaching and lecturing today, Mr. Royal enjoys genres which include classical, blues, funk, jazz and fusion with a repertoire that includes highly original compositions, standards from the Great American Songbook, bebop, ballads, blues and classical masterpieces.

He is founder and producer of the Western New York Jazz Society in Buffalo, NY.

He completed independent studies at the University of South Florida, Tampa, FL, St. Andrew's Presbyterian College, Laurenburg, NC, Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY, The Golandsky Institute at Princeton University, NJ, as well as analytic studies with Jonterryl Plumeri and Spud Murphy, Los Angeles, CA. Beyond all formal education and performance experiences, first and foremost Mr. Royal is a self taught artist/intellectual – a true renaissance man.

Born in Tampa, Florida, not far from where he currently resides, Mr. Royal married his wife Julie Ann Gilstrap in March 2000 and has two beautiful children. Enjoying skydiving, billiards and travel in his free time, he has been included in the 60th edition of Who's Who in America.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Michael Earl Royal has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
